Short biography:

Zdenko Brusic, archaeologist (born in Sibenuk in 1938). From 1953 - 57) attended the Secondary school in Zadar. At the Faculty of Philosophy in Zagreb graduated archaeology in 1963. The thesis “Import of the Hellenistic and Roman relief ceramics in Liburnia” he defended at the same Faculty in 1981. From 1966 to 1969 he worked as a curator in Nin, in a Branch Collection of the Archaeological Museum of Zadar, and from the year 1969 he was a curator in The Sibenik Town Museum. From 1982 - 1987 he was the headmaster at the Zadar Archaeological museum. Since 1979 he has been the Museum Advisor.

He took part in numerous excavations (Muline on the island of Ugljan, Nin, Povljana on the island of Pag, Kasic near Zadar, Bribir, Biograd n/m and others), and he was the chief while excavating the localities Velika Mrdakovica, Vrbica near Bribir, Sitno donje near Perkovic, Pokrovnik in Mirilovica zagora, the cave Trabanj, and Skarina draga in the canyon of the river Krka and so on. On the results of these excavations he wrote in Radovi instituta JAZU in Zadar (1973), Arheoloski pregled (1974, 1987) in Novi i neobjavljeni arheoloski nalazi u Dalmaciji (1977), Vjesnik za arheologiju i historiju dalmatinsku (1981) and others. Particularly important are his researching of the submarine finds. He excavated the ancient submarine shipwrecks near Zlarin (Arheoloski pregled 1974), Obli near Sibenik and near the island of Mljet (Sobra, Pomena, Glavat and others. As well he worked on the medieval shipwreck of Suburda near Sipan, Drevina near Dubrovnik and so on. He was the chief while excavating two ancient ships from the ancient port of Aenona in Zaton (Diadora 1969, Archaeological Reports, Oxford 1985, 276, Radovi instituta JAZU u Zadru, 1969, Arheoloski pregled, 1974). He excavated other sites from the pre-historic, ancient and medieval periods (Zbornik - Zadarsko otocje, 1974, Radovi centra JAZU u Zadru, 1972, Balcanoslavica 1977, Gunjacin zbornik, 1980, Prilozi povijesti umjetnosti u Dalmaciji, 1987, Arheoloska istrazivanja u Dubrovniku i dubrovackom podrucju, Zagreb, 1988).
