Fava bean spread

This is a fava bean spread with the addition of garlic, olive oil, and basil. It can be used as a spread or as an addition to main dishes. Basil in the spread can be replaced with mint.

Procedure

  1. If you are planning to use fresh fava beans, shell them first.
  2. Boil fresh fava beans for about 10 minutes, and for the frozen ones follow the instructions on the bag.
  3. Add water, 15 ice cubes, and cooked drained fava beans to a large bowl. Then strain the beans again and shell them.
  4. Add fava beans, garlic, lemon juice, olive oil, basil, salt, pepper, and sweet bell pepper to a small multipurpose processor. Mix until you get a spread of homogeneous consistency.
  5. Serve the spread in a bowl. You can add another tablespoon of olive oil, pepper, and chili in pieces on top. You can also decorate it with a few basil leaves.
  6. Toasted bread and crackers go perfectly with it. You can also use the fava bean spread in other ways – in tortillas, as a side dish to vegetable bowls, pasta, etc. Bon appétit!
