Broccoli and beef is a classic combination, but the addition of hoisin sauce brings a new dimension. This is simple and quick to prepare, and tastes unbelievable – perfect for lunch or dinner. Serve with a bowl of rice, and sprinkle with sesame seeds for the finishing touch!

For the main
300 g
beef ribeye
350 g
broccoli
4 cloves
garlic
2 tablespoons
oil
salt

hoisin sauce
1 tablespoon
cornflour
100 ml
water
150 g
basmati rice
300 ml
water
2 teaspoons
sesame seeds
Procedure
- Cook the rice according to the instructions on the packet. Break the broccoli into small florets. Thinly slice the beef. Cut the garlic into very thin slices. In a bowl, mix the cornflour with 100 ml of water.
- Heat the two tablespoons of oil in a large frying pan or wok. Add the beef, season with salt and pepper, and stir-fry until the meat browns (3 or 4 minutes).
- Remove the meat from the pan, and add the broccoli to the same oil. Add 50 ml of water, and cover to let it steam quickly.
- Return the beef to the pan, add the hoisin sauce, and mix well. Pour over the cornflour slurry. Cook for 2 or 3 minutes more, until the sauce thickens and all the ingredients are well-coated.
- Serve with warm rice, sprinkled with sesame seeds for extra flavour and texture. Enjoy!
